A monument dedicated to a hero from Asgata is found in the churchyard of the church dedicated to Apostles Peter and Paul. It is a copper statue of the hero Georgios Chr. Katsaris, who died during the intercommunal riots.

Georgios Chr. Katsaris was killed “in Pachyammos on the 8th of August 1964. His fellow-fighters buried him in the mountains of Tilliria. The people of Asgata, wishing to honor the hero, built an honorary monument in his name and the afore-mentioned statue. In 1988, his remains were transferred from Tilliria to Asgata and placed in a special container where the statue is.
